Common problems and solutions¶
For most issues, the best first step is to restart the Talkid. A restart can clear temporary problems with Wi-Fi, pairing, contacts, or messages before trying the steps below.
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Talkid does not show a pairing code | Make sure you have chosen a language, connected to Wi-Fi, and entered a username. |
| The pairing code does not work | Check that the 6 digit code is typed correctly in the Talkid app. |
| Cannot pair to the phone | Check Wi-Fi on the Talkid. Check internet access on the phone. Open the Talkid app and look for Pair or Pair with a code. Then try again. |
| Talkid does not restart after pairing | Wait a short time. If nothing changes, repeat the pairing steps with the code shown on the Talkid. |
| Cannot talk to a friend | Make sure Wi-Fi is available. Check that the contact is approved in the Talkid app. Then try again. |
| Friend or approved adult does not appear | Check that the contact has been approved in the Talkid app. |
| Message does not send | Check that Wi-Fi is available. Then send the message again. |
| Child cannot contact a parent or approved adult | Check that the Talkid app and the Talkid are paired. Then check that the contact is approved. |
Getting more help¶
If the steps above do not fix the problem:
- Restart the Talkid.
- Check that Wi-Fi is available.
- Check that the Talkid app account is set up.
- Check that the Talkid and the app are paired.
- Check that the contact is approved.
- Try the action again.
Tip
If a problem continues, ask a parent or approved adult to check the app, Wi-Fi, pairing, and approved contacts.
