- What is Talkid?¶
Talkid is a Wi-Fi walkie-talkie for kids.
It's made for safe, unlimited conversations with friends and family over any distance.
- Is Talkid a phone?¶
No. While Talkid can connect to smartphones, Talkid itself is not a phone.
Talkid is a toy designed specifically for kids and is much better suited to them than a phone.
It requires no phone plan or subscription. It does not allow communication with phone numbers. It doesn't have apps, social media, games, or internet browsing.
But it offers free and playful communication with no distance or time limits.
- How do parental controls work?¶
Parents have full control through the Talkid app.
You can approve contacts and set time limits. All communication requires parental approval.
- Does Talkid require Wi-Fi to work?¶
Yes. Talkid requires Wi-Fi to work.
It does not use radio frequencies like a regular walkie-talkie, and it does not connect to a cellular network.
- What types of messages can be sent?¶
In addition to live conversations, Talkid can send voice messages, text messages, images, and funny prerecorded sounds.
- Can Talkid connect to smartphones?¶
Yes. Talkid can connect to smartphones that have the Talkid app installed and are approved by parents.
This allows kids to communicate easily and securely with approved grown-ups.
- Is a subscription required?¶
No, you don't need a subscription.
- How long does the battery last?¶
Battery life depends on usage, but typically lasts a full day.
The device can be charged overnight through the USB port.
- What languages is Talkid available in?¶
Talkid is available in many languages, making it accessible to kids around the world:

- What is Talkid’s range?¶
Talkid does not use radio frequencies like a traditional walkie-talkie. It works over Wi-Fi, so there is no distance limit as long as the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Can Talkid call a phone number?¶
No. Talkid does not connect to the cellular phone network. It can communicate with other Talkids or with smartphones using the Talkid app and approved by a parent.
- Does Talkid work abroad?¶
Yes. Talkid works anywhere it can connect to a Wi-Fi network.
- Can I use Talkid to talk to several people at the same time?¶
Yes. You can create groups and communicate with all group members at once. Any member can leave a group at any time.
- How do I put Talkid on silent?¶
Simply turn the volume all the way down.
- Can Talkid be managed by more than one adult?¶
No. Talkid can communicate with multiple approved smartphones, but it can only be paired with one phone. Device settings and parental controls are managed from that paired phone.
- Can an adult or another child contact a Talkid without the parent knowing?¶
No. Important actions trigger a notification on the paired phone, including friend requests, rejected requests, and group invitations or additions.
- Can an adult manage a Talkid’s friends and groups?¶
Yes. The paired phone can view and manage the Talkid’s friends and groups through the Talkid app. For example, the adult can remove a friend or leave a group directly from the app.
